Easy Tips on How to Defrost Your Vehicle Quickly

Easy Tips on How to Defrost Your Vehicle QuicklyTop Tips on How to Get Your Winter Car Ready for the Roads

We know what you’re thinking – California isn’t known for its frigid temperatures, snow, and ice. Even so, temperatures can drop rapidly overnight, meaning that we wake up to a frosted over vehicle. While we may not have to contend with inches of snow, we should know how to quickly defrost our vehicle so that we can get on the road. Here are some handy tips to help.

The Night Before:

  • If you can, consider parking your car so it is facing east. Solar energy can help to defrost your windscreen without resorting to elbow grease.
  • Raise your windshield wipers off the screen to prevent them from freezing to it.
  • Smear a thin layer of silicone lubricant or Vaseline on the door seals to stop them from freezing up.
  • Spray the outside of your windows with a night-before-decier.

Defrosting Your Vehicle:

  • Turn on your heating system in the vehicle, aiming it at the windows.
  • Turn on the A/C so the vehicle pulls in dry air to reduce the chance of condensation.
  • Crack the windows to help the exchange of humid air in your car with drier air outside.
  • Scrape with a quality ice scraper. If you’re in a pinch, use an expired credit card.
  • Spray your windows with a solution of 2:1 parts rubbing alcohol and water to help stubborn ice.
  • Never use hot or boiling water as it may crack the glass.
  • Never drive off without all of the windows being cleared.

We hope that these tips help you to get going quicker on those frosty mornings! For the auto insurance to protect you while you’re cruising the roads, visit Jack Stone Insurance Agency, serving Brentwood, Antioch, and surrounding metropolitan areas of California.
