Practice These Safety Tips While Celebrating St. Patrick's Day
St. Patrick's Day is almost here! On March 17th, Dress in your finest green outfit, sport as many shamrocks as you can find, and head on over to your local pub for a pint of Guinness. But, along with all the fun comes responsibility. As you get ready to celebrate make sure that you put safety first and be sure to check out these St. Patrick's Day safety tips.
- Never drink and drive. Be sure to think about transportation before you head out. While a pint of beer might be refreshing, it's never safe to get behind the wheel of a car after you've had alcohol. Designate a driver, call an Uber or a book a taxi so that you're not tempted to drive home.
- Be extra careful on the road. Even if you're not going out to celebrate, there are others that are. Make sure to drive extra carefully, especially if you're driving into the evening. There may be drunk drivers on the road or inebriated partygoers walking.
- Leave your valuables a home. It's likely that pubs and bars will be busy on St. Patrick's Day. In such close quarters, it could be easy for thieves to take your phone, wallet, or other valuables you have stashed in your pockets or bag. To prevent theft, only bring the necessities with you and keep them close to you at all times.
- Help friends. If you're hosting a party, let friends stay the night so that they know they have a safe place to sleep and aren't considering driving home drink. Encourage securing a designated driver and serve plenty of food and soft drinks to control the flow of alcohol.
