Inexpensive Activities For Kids
Labor Day is just around the corner, which means you still have a couple of weeks to find ways to entertain your children during the day. If you are running out of ideas, and possibly summertime funds, keep these inexpensive activities in mind to keep the kids entertained until the first day of school.
- Create a race track - use colored tape to create a race track for your kid's toy cars. You can confine it to one room, or let them explore all over the house. Encourage them to build pit stops along the way.
- Play outdoor sponge darts - use sidewalk chalk to dray a bull's eye in your driveway or on the sidewalk. Wet some sponges and let your kids try and make a bull's eye! The water will help to keep them cool, and start to clean up the chalk lines, getting some of the dirty work done for you!
- Make stomp paintings - roll out some butcher paper in your yard, or your house if you are risky, wrap your kid's feet in bubble wrap, and allow them to create their own walking works of art. They will not only love the design, but also the experience of getting to pop bubble wrap!
- Soap clouds - put a bar of Ivory soap in the microwave for a couple minutes, and watch it grow into a cloud. This is an experiment best suited for older kids since little hands can easily crush the cloud if they are not gentle.
