The beautiful dog pictured above was rescued from a extremely hot vehicle today in the Willows Shopping Center in Concord.
A citizen called the Concord Police Department this afternoon to report that there was a dog in a vehicle, parked in the sun, with all the windows up.
When officers arrived on scene they located the dog in distress, and confirmed all the windows were shut and the doors were locked. There was no food or water in the vehicle and no owner to be found, according to Cpl. Christopher Blakely.
Based on the exigent circumstances, police broke the driver side window and removed the dog. The inside of the vehicle was extremely hot and they could feel the wave of heat coming from the vehicle, Cpl. Blakely said.
The citizen who reported the dog to the police stood by while they waited for animal control, and gave the dog some cold water, and Cpl. Blakely provided the nice air conditioned vehicle.
Animal control took the dog and police wrote a case against the owner, who œforgot he left his dog inside of his vehicle, police said.
NEVER leave your animals or children in vehicles when it's hot outside, it's a death trap.
Nice job to the citizen who reported the suffering pup, and thanks to the Concord Police for not being afraid to break the window and take action against the owner.
