Budget Friendly Home Renovations

BlueprintsRemodeling on a Budget

Remodeling your home is a great way to make it more comfortable for your family, while also increasing the value. While renovations can easily cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, they do not have to. If you are working on a tight budget, consider these renovations that can keep your house looking its best.

  • Paint - a new coat of paint can make your home look like a brand new house. If you are planning on selling your house in the near future, choose neutral colors that will appeal to the highest number of buyers. If you have wallpaper on your walls, make sure to strip it off before you paint.
  • Alternatives to custom cabinets - remanufactured cabinets are much less expensive than custom made cabinets, and can look just as good. Keep in mind that you may be limited in the design of your cabinets, but there are plenty of colors and styles to choose from. Replacing the hardware on your cabinets can also give your home a more updated look.
  • Replace countertops - if you have worn down countertops, consider replacing them with a ceramic tile. Tile instillation is very affordable, and there are many different styles and colors to choose from. There are also many solid wood options that are available that can be sealed if you do not like the look of it.
  • Look for second hand appliances - if you are looking to replace your appliances, see if you can find ones from second hand stores or outlet stores. If you have some appliances that have small dings or scratches, paint them with appliance paint that mimics the look of stainless steel.

When renovating your home, it is important to talk with your insurance agent to ensure that your homeowner's insurance policy is providing enough coverage. Contact Jack Stone Insurance Agency in Antioch, California for all of your home insurance needs.
