Tips for Attending a Graduation Ceremony

Attending a Graduation Ceremony

Will you be celebrating and attending a graduation ceremony this year? Here's how to manage it.

Your beloved graduate - daughter, son, or friend - has worked diligently and tirelessly for four or more years to get to this day. While the day is all about the graduates, attending a graduation ceremony as a guest takes some preparation as well. Ceremonies are often early, overwhelmingly busy, and require certain etiquette that is largely unspoken.

Consider these points before you attend:

Book accommodations early. Hotels near the graduation ceremony or university campus tend to sell out of available rooms early on graduation weekend. Book arrangements well in advance to ensure you don't miss out.

Leave early. With the graduates, friends, family, and university faculty attending the ceremony, traffic and parking can be a nightmare. Leave yourself plenty of time to get to the location on time, find parking, and make it to your seat.

Wear comfortable clothes. During the day, you may be walking from place to place and sitting down for long periods of time. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes, bring sunscreen and water, and stay energized throughout the day.

Take your camera. It's understandable that you and the graduate will want to relish in this moment of glory. Snap plenty of pictures throughout the day, capturing candid shots, too. The graduate may be feeling sentimental when saying goodbye to friends and professors. Be prepared to be the go-to photographer for a lot of photos.

Be prepared. Remember to take your ticket (if necessary), and a card (or flowers, a balloon or both!) to celebrate your graduate!

Most of all, enjoy seeing your beloved graduate celebrate one of their biggest life accomplishments! For all of your insurance needs in Antioch, Brentwood, and beyond, visit Jack Stone Insurance Agency today.
